Our Mission

  1. Build a coalition: Countries should commit to a time bound, quantitative N2O mitigation goal akin to the Global Methane Pledge. The exact nature of the pledge is a matter for discussion by participant countries but the discussion on mitigating this often overlooked climate pollutant must begin. What we know from the recently released Global Nitrous Oxide Assessment is that, with proper investment and policy frameworks, substantial emissions reduction is possible.
  2. Eliminate industrial emissions: Countries should commit to a near-term goal of eliminating industrial nitrous oxide emissions. Because technology already exists and is ready to deploy, industrial emissions are far easier to abate than emissions from other sources.
  3. Commit to change: World leaders should make a collective commitment to marshal the necessary funding. This commitment could be modeled on Mission Innovation, the public-private collaboration to increase public and private funding for clean energy innovation. Philanthropies will have a critical role to play here as well.
